LEARN A VOCATIONAL SKILL INSTEAD OF LOITERING – AKANDE CHARGES YOUTH

The Lagos State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty
Alleviation, Hon. Lola Akande has charged unemployed youths in the
State to learn Vocational Skill and be productive instead of loitering
around.
The Commissioner gave the charge during a fact finding inspection of
Ibeju Skill Acquisition Centre as part of her ongoing familiarization
tour of Skill Acquisition Centres under the Ministry.
Akande, who was visibly unhappy with the low turnout of trainees at
the Centre called on the youth in the area to seize the opportunity of
the tuition free skill acquisition programme of the government to
acquire more knowledge in order to be self dependent.
She however congratulated students in the Adult Literacy Class for
taking the bold step despite their age to acquire formal education,
stressing that their learning will give them an edge in the society to
improve their lives and that of their immediate family.
The Commissioner later visited Igboye Skill Acquisition Centre at Epe
and Lagos Island Skill Acquisition Centre, Oja Oba, Lagos Island.
